TMJ/TMD Therapy

Temporomandibular disorder, often referred to as TMJ Disorder or TMD, is a condition which originates in the jaw and, when left untreated, can cause a number of debilitating symptoms throughout the body. Thousands of Americans suffer from facial, jaw, head, and neck pain caused by TMJ Disorder each year. Fortunately for our patients at Spring Lake Dental Care, our experienced dentists offer a variety of effective and advanced dental care treatments for TMJ Disorder.

What Is the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ)?

The temporomandibular joint connects the jaw (mandible) to the skull, and can become damaged, inflamed, or dislocated, causing serious pain. This joint assists in jaw movement and is used each time we speak or chew. When this joint is overused, imbalanced, or damaged, TMJ Disorder can develop.

TMD Symptoms

You may have TMJ Disorder if you are experiencing a clicking or popping of the jaw, difficulty chewing, discomfort when eating, facial pain, headaches, frequent dizziness, pain in the neck/shoulders/back, or even numbness in the arms and fingers. Dr. Andrew Morris or Dr. Peter Ciampi will perform a thorough evaluation to determine if you are suffering from TMJ Disorder and talk with you about your treatment options.
